An AmeriCorps Post-Grad Life

Travel! Adventure! Job Experience! Frozen student loans! College-like lifestyle! Food Stamps! A real salary! My life is pretty sweet post-grad. I’m totally kidding about the real salary thing though (unless you’ve been living with your head in the clouds, like I was in college, everyone knows that’s not a given after graduation).

Like any normal twenty-something year old fresh off the graduation stage, I took the obvious next step after I received my diploma. I packed up, and moved to Delaware! Wait, what? The first state? ANOTHER Post About Moving…

Maybe we’ve beat the “moving for work” topic to death here on PGL, but that’s what I’ve got going on in my work life now, so that’s what I’m going to talk about.

Now, I haven’t even told my parents yet, but this week I applied for a transfer toFlorida. (Surprise, Mom!) My company is opening a store in Ft. Myers, a new market, and they have a pretty awesome relocation policy for their managers. But this is a big deal decision, and there are certainly a number of benefits and drawbacks to making a move like this, all of which I’m still considering. And I might as well share them with you. Major Life Decisions… Do They Ever End?

It was always a dream of mine to live in New York City and during the summer of 2008 that dream came true. I moved to NYC with Sarah and we lived happily ever after for two months in an NYU dorm room that resembled what I would assume a jail cell to look like (yeah, I’m in my 20s and have never been arrested… knocking on wood at this very moment… superstitious much?).
