Happy Independence Day Eve

I was slightly pissed off when I found out that July 4th fell on a Wednesday. So now we get a random weekday off work. How is this going to be better than a long weekend? But of course, as Independence Day nears I am super pumped to have this Wednesday off! I get to go out with my friends for Happy Hour tonight, sleep in tomorrow and then lay out alllllll day long…sounds perfect! Not to mention two more work days and then the weekend!

Not only is this 4th of July a great way to break up the work week it also means a laid back time while I’m at work. Most people in my office have started their vacations so the office is quiet, and others are too amped about their holiday plans to start any issues at work. What a nice break!

So I wish all of you a happy Independence Day Eve. Enjoy your slow day at work (hopefully!), stay out late with friends tonight and wake up to celebrate this great country tomorrow! I mean, that’s what our forefathers would do, right?

I do not have Bieber fever…well sort of

I am so annoyed by Justin Bieber. I don’t know why, something just irks me about him. BUT, I’m embarrassed to say, I love his new album. I listen to it at least once a day at work on Spotify, if not more. The first day it came out I was laughingly telling myself I needed to listen to it so it can solidify my annoyed feelings toward him. Well, come to find out I was liking almost every single song. I even told my roommate, who immediately made fun of me, all about it. Well come to find out, she’s now obsessed too. Continue reading

Working on my Downward Facing Dog

I’ve hit my 20th class of hot yoga and I’ve experienced some positive and negative feelings toward it all. Let’s start with the positives.

  1. I’ve lost 5lbs
  2. I’ve lost an inch off my waist line
  3. My muscles feel more toned
  4. My balance is exceptional…well better than it was
  5. I feel less stressed

Now to the negatives…

  1. The 6 am class has me exhausted every day at work
  2. I have almost re-broken my nose (fell out of a pose…embarrassing)

The “Nose Breaker” or also known as the “Bakasana” pose

Obviously the positives greatly outweigh the negatives, and that motivates me to keep on pushing even more. There are definitely mornings when 5:30 a.m. comes way too early, but I’ve made an effort to push myself out of bed and get to class. Sweating my butt off for 60 minutes, 3-4 times a week has really made a difference, and I can’t wait to continue on with my yoga practice!

Namaste everyone!

One Regret

There is one major thing that I regret not doing before graduating college, and that is going out of the state/country for an internship. Both of my PGL besties went to New York for a summer and now my sister, who will be a senior in the fall, is off to Chicago for her internship. I wasted a chance that I’ll never get back and it really pisses me off. Continue reading

Post-Grad Playlist: Vol. 3: Summer Jams

My favorite season is summer. I love being in the sun sweating my ass off, and believe me in Texas that’s an easy task to accomplish. Laying out by the pool with good friends, drinking a cocktail and listening to some tunes is a great way to spend five to six hours on a Saturday afternoon.  It’s usually an unspoken rule that I will provide the tunes and believe me, my summer pool party playlists never let anyone down!

Here is my top summer playlist:

  1. Let’s Go- Calvin Harris ft. Ne-Yo
  2. Turn Up the Music- Chris Brown
  3. Springsteen- Eric Church
  4. Naked- Dev ft. Enrique Iglesias
  5. Could You Be Loved- Bob Marley
  6. Lights- Ellie Goulding
  7. Live My Life- Far East Movement ft. Justin Bieber
  8. We Run the Night- Havana Brown ft. Pitbull
  9. Dance Again- JL o ft. Pitbull
  10. Mercy- Kanye West ft. Big Sean, Pusha T, 2 Chainz
  11. M83- Reunion
  12. Barefoot Blue Jean Night- Jake Owen
  13. Scream- Usher
  14. Now or Never- Outasight
  15. Wide Awake- Katy Perry
  16. One More Drinkin’ Song- Jerrod Niemann
  17. Starry Eyed- Ellie Goulding
  18. M83- Midnight City
  19. Princess of China- Coldplay ft. Rihanna
  20. Ooh Wee- Mark Ronson

Laying poolside with some great music and cold drinks sounds fantastic right now! Too bad it’s only Monday morning….

If you have any summer jams that I should check out, let me know. I’m always looking to add to my music library!
